Major Ear Surgery Project –Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas, (Sindh): 2008 – 2016

In the last 9 years IMRA has sent Surgical team consisting of 4 – 5 U.K. ENT Surgeons and have done over 300 major ear surgery cases. IMRA has donated 5 Microscopes, Mastoid Drill, Anaesthetic Monitors, Diathermy Machines, Middle Ear surgery instruments and various other Surgical and Anaesthetic equipment worth totaling over £150,000 to ENT Department in Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas.

Indus Hospital – Karachi 2009-2016

Indus Charity Hospital is 150 bedded hospital and is a unique project in a county like Pakistan. Every patient is treated completely free irrespective of his or her status. The hospital is run by charitable donations from rich industrialists mainly and provides a very high quality service for patients who cannot afford it. Since 2009 until 2016 IMRA team has performed over 70 Major Ear cases on extremely poor patients. IMRA has donated 3 Microscopes, extensive Anaesthetic and Paediatric airway equipment, 3 Nerve Monitors, Colposcope, 3 Audiometers and various surgical instruments and appliances worth totalling £100,000 and over 700 Hearing Aids worth approx. £10,000.

Dow University Hospital Karachi (DUH) 2011-2012 IMRA arranged an Audiologist and a Speech therapist from Karachi (DUH) to come to London in 2011 and gain training in Cochlear Implant Rehabilitation. These trainees spent about 6 months at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Royal National Ear, Nose, Throat Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital in London and Manchester Royal Infirmary. Two ENT Surgeons from DUH, Karachi were also trained for 3 months at Great Ormond and Royal National ENT Hospital in 2012 to start the first free Cochlear Implant Programme for poor patients in Pakistan. IMRA spent £20,000 for the training of the above personnel. IMRA donated 200 Hearing Aids to DUH Karachi as well as Nerve Monitoring Equipment costing approximately £6500.
