4th Meeting of International Medical Graduates in the UK in ENT

The 4th meeting of International Medical Graduates in ENT was held at Spice Root Restaurant. The Dragon Centre, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff on Saturday 26th May, 2007. The meeting started by welcoming new members and with a brief introduction by M Khan.

Mr F Tanweer presented an audit of parotidectomies at his hospital in Doncaster. The topic generated a heated discussion amongst the 20 members present.

The next discussion was on cochlear implant surgery in developing countries like Pakistan; Mr M Khan discussed the prospects of this surgery for patients who can’t afford to pay. Mr Khan plans to start a consultation process with other members to address this problem.

Continuing on the charity theme, Mr Anwar Moin Khan talked about charitable work which ENT surgeons can do when visiting Pakistan during their vacations, at a hospital in Karachi. They can contact Mr Anwar Moin Khan when they are planning to make their trip. The members thanked Mr Anwar Moin Khan for arranging the meeting in Cardiff.

The meeting was followed by a lavish buffet dinner at the same restaurant and members were joined by their families. The occasion allowed social contact amongst the members and their families. The next meeting is in the North West of England in Autumn 2007.
